Summary

Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Part-Time Performing Arts Educator to join our K–12 Performing Arts Department. 🌺

This role includes teaching Lower School theater classes and serving as the Musical Director for our Middle and Upper School productions, as well as providing general support for performances across grade levels.

Duties

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Teach weekly theater and performance-based classes to Lower School students (grades K–5), incorporating storytelling, expressive movement, and public speaking.
  • Oversee and guide vocalists and ensembles in preparation for school performances, including group numbers and featured solos.
  • Assist with stage direction, character development, blocking, and ensemble work for Lower School musical productions.
  • Collaborate with Performing Arts faculty to support school-wide showcases, assemblies, and interdisciplinary events.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom and rehearsal environment that fosters student confidence and creativity.
  • Attend tech week and performances, providing leadership and support in executing high-quality productions.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in performance, music, or theater.
  • Experience directing or supporting musical theatre productions, and teaching drama/theater studies to children and teens.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and creative collaboration skills.
  • Basic piano proficiency strongly preferred, especially for vocal coaching and rehearsal support.
  • Ability to adapt and work flexibly within a school environment.
  • Enthusiasm passion for arts education and student development.
