Summary
Wee Know is a Nationally Accredited and 5Star YoungStar center. We are looking for a compassionate, outgoing and dedicated teacher to fill a lead teaching position in our school. Our enrollment consists of 2 1/2 yr. old through 4K children during the school year and 3K through 3rd grade bound during the summer. Each classroom is staffed with a lead teacher and assistant teacher. Children are placed in one classroom with a teaching team for the entire school year (Sept. - May). This allows our teachers to follow each child's development throughout the year, and children are with their peer group. Candidate must have prior experience as a lead teacher and hold an Associates degree or higher. Position requires minimum of 32 hrs. per week, and is considered a full-time position. NO rotating schedules. Days and hours of work are consistent each week. Candidates are encouraged to view our website at www.weeknowschool.com. Application is available on website.
Duties
- Interact with children on a one to one and group basis
- Set-up and maintain a clean, welcoming and inviting classroom
- Planning developmentally appropriate activities for children that follows WMELS standards
- Develop weekly lesson plans that include art, science, math, literacy, music and movement, and outdoor activities
- Work with assistant teacher in a team teaching setting, directing as needed.
- Engage children in small and large group activities as well as encourage independent skills
- Provide comfort, encouragement and support to all children
- Maintain individual portfolio for each student documenting development through antidotal notes, art, pictures, etc.
- Daily posting on Classroom Facebook Page for parents
- Outline monthly classroom activities for office to prepare and distribute Newsletter
- Plan occasional special days/lunches/parties/cooking days/field trips
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Fulfil yearly Continuing Education Requirements (paid by Wee Know)
Requirements
- Associate Degree or higher
- At least 1-2 yrs. experience experience as a lead teacher in a school/center
- A strong understanding of child development
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Class management skills
- Experience in writing lesson plans
- WMELS training preferred but will train
- Ability to implement school resources to benefit children's development
- Ability to be flexible and able to adjust program plan to best benefit children
- Ability to communicate with other staff, parents, and children in a positive manner
- Ability to relate to children with joy, compassion, sensitivity and encouragement
- Evidence of emotional maturity, stability, and good judgement
- Physical stamina to perform duties
- Must clear full background check, fingerprinting and health check required by the St. of WI
- Fulfil yearly Continuing Education requirement
