Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A dedicated Special Education Teacher is needed to lead a self-contained Emotional Disability (ED) classroom serving K-12 students in Mesa, AZ. This position offers the opportunity to impact students with emotional and behavioral challenges by providing structured and individualized instruction designed to foster social-emotional growth and academic achievement.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with emotional disabilities.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal regulations.
- Applying evidence-based methods to promote social-emotional learning, behavior management, and academic progress.
- Collaborating effectively with related service providers, general education teachers, families, and multidisciplinary support teams.
- Actively participating in IEP meetings, creating behavior intervention plans, and engaging in crisis prevention strategies when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Disabilities).
- Experience working with students in self-contained settings, preferably with emotional disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based behavioral and instructional strategies.
- Excellent munication and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders.

This role is a contract position for the uping school year (NSY), located within a K-12 school in Mesa, Arizona.
