Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for an experienced Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a self-contained CDC classroom. The position starts on August 1, 2025, and runs through the 2025/2026 school year on a contract basis. You will work closely with six students who have diverse and significant needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Downs Syndrome, and medical fragility, with nursing support provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet each students unique learning requirements.
- Deliver specialized instruction in a self-contained classroom environment.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure the health and safety of medically fragile students.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to maximize learning outes.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student growth and engagement.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working in middle school settings, preferably with self-contained classrooms.
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies for ASD, Downs Syndrome, and other significant disabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with nurses, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Patience, flexibility, and dedication to meet plex student needs.
Location and Schedule:
- This position is located in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
- School hours are 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
