Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education teaching opportunity is available for a motivated educator in the Austin, TX area, serving students in grades 6-12. This NSY contract role involves delivering both push-in and pull-out services to approximately 12 students within a K-12 school setting. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing specialized instruction tailored to students with diverse learning needs.
- Fostering a love for literature with an emphasis on high school level classics, such as Tom Sawyer, Chronicles of Narnia, Helen Keller: Story of My Life, Homer's Odyssey, and My Antonia.
- Actively engaging students in meaningful discussions to enhance prehension and appreciation of literary works.
- Participating in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and contributing to the development of individualized education programs.
- Collaborating closely with other educators, families, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications and experience desired:
- Valid Texas Educator License with EC-12 Special Education Endorsement.
- Demonstrated passion for literature and ability to inspire student engagement with reading materials.
- Previous ARD meeting experience and confidence in contributing to team discussions and student planning.
- Strong munication and interpersonal skills suited to working collaboratively within a school munity.
