New Kent Christian School is seeking a dedicated Elementary School Teacher with a strong desire and depth of knowledge to help students develop a Biblical worldview through the lens of each subject taught. Join our incredible team and make a lasting impact on our community and culture for Christ!

Position Overview

Goal: The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.

Reports to: Administrator
Contract: One-year position upon recommendation of the administrator
New Teacher Orientation: Begins August 5, 2025

Required Qualifications

Personal Requirements

• Have received Jesus Christ as personal Savior
• Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living
• Whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education
• College graduate, certified or certifiable
• Feel called by God to the teaching profession
• Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions (committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct)
• Demonstrate spiritual maturity and personal leadership qualities

Professional Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (required)
• Teaching certification or certifiable
• Experience with elementary-age students preferred
• Strong communication skills in written and oral English
• Ability to integrate biblical principles throughout curriculum

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Reflect the school's purpose to honor Christ in every class and activity
• Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and grow in faith
• Lead students to realize their self-worth in Christ
• Teach assigned classes following prescribed scope and sequence
• Integrate biblical principles throughout curriculum and activities
• Maintain proper classroom discipline and learning environment
• Plan engaging lessons that meet individual student needs
• Utilize variety of instructional methods and materials
• Assess student learning and provide regular progress reports
• Maintain accurate attendance and grade records
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration
• Attend faculty meetings, in-service training, and Parent Teacher Fellowship meetings

Additional Duties

• Supervise extracurricular activities and outings as assigned
• Participate in professional development opportunities
• Support school events and activities when possible
• Follow Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
