This opportunity seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in grades 7 and 8 with a focus on mathematics. The position is contract-based for the full Next School Year and is located in Levittown, PA. The successful candidate will primarily use the Math 180 curriculum to deliver specialized instruction tailored to students individual learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized math instruction for 7th and 8th-grade students with special education needs
- Implement and adapt the Math 180 curriculum to meet diverse learning styles and abilities
- Develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and challenges
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and student confidence
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive education
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and strategies to support learning
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience teaching middle school math, preferably 7th and 8th grade
- Proficiency with Math 180 or similar specialized math intervention programs
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and special education laws/regulations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
