About EPATT: The East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring program (EPATT) is an established non-profit organization that has impacted the lives of hundreds of students from East Palo Alto since 1988. Through partnerships with families, schools, and local agencies, EPATT equips students to be college and career ready.

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Summer Teacher to design and implement an engaging educational program for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. This role combines instructional leadership, curriculum development, and program coordination to ensure student success during the summer months.

Dates June 20th to July 25th (The incumbent is expected to stay the full duration of the program)

Location THE EPATT Center, East Palo Alto, CA

WORK HOURS AND DATES June 20th July 25th (program starts June 23rd)

  • Teachers are expected to be on site from 8am until 1pm Mon-Thurs,
  • Fridays 8am 4pm
  • The program operates Monday-Thursday 8am 3pm (teachers are finished
    at 1pm), and Friday field trips from 8am 4pm.

Key Responsibilities:


Curriculum Design & Implementation


Develop age-appropriate, standards-aligned curriculum that addresses summer learning loss and promotes academic growth
Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities, literacy, and numeracy skills
Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities within the K-3 age range

Instructional Leadership

  • Facilitate small group tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs
  • Lead targeted small group instruction in reading and mathematics

Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct/Monitor assessments to track student progress and identify areas for intervention
  • Maintain detailed records of student performance and growth
  • Analyze data to inform instructional decisions and program improvements

Parent & Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and program activities
  • Conduct parent conferences and provide resources for continued learning at home
  • Foster positive relationships with families to support student success

Program Coordination


  • Plan and coordinate educational field trips that enhance classroom learning
  • Collaborate with program administrators and support staff
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment


QUALIFICATIONS - EPATT is seeking enthusiastic, innovative, motivated, creative, fun-loving, teachers for our summer kindergarten readiness program. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching and has high personal and student expectations and doesnt mind singing and dancing and using other multi-sensory methods of instruction. Lastly, this person must place a high value on parent engagement.

Bachelor's degree or degree in progress required
Elementary teaching credential preferred
Strong classroom management skills that presume high behavioral and academic expectations for ALL students
Experience with curriculum development and implementation
Familiarity with the Common Core State Standards
Commitment to providing a positive and effective program for all participants
A high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm all day, every day!
Ability to speak Spanish a plus!
