A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available to support an elementary school serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade, with a focus on special education needs primarily related to language and articulation. This contract role is based in Waterbury, CT, and offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an inclusive educational environment during the current school year (CSY).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students with special education needs, particularly addressing language and articulation challenges.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to implement effective lesson plans and interventions aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Support and actively participate in an autism program, providing specialized services to students with autism spectrum disorder to enhance their learning experience.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate documentation and municate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to foster student development.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education certification for Elementary Education (K-5).
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, especially those with language, articulation, and autism-related needs.
- Strong classroom management and munication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
