Special Education Teachers (Middle/High School) - Specialized Learning Support Teacher
Are you a dedicated educator passionate about making a difference in the lives of diverse learners? We have two exciting openings for Special Education Teachers to provide engaging ELA and Math instruction to middle and high school students. You may also have the opportunity to teach Science and Humanities or offer push-in support in these subjects.
Salary: $51,000 to $66,000 per year (depending on qualifications and experience)
About the Role:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will design and deliver instruction based on the school's curriculum that supports an inclusive learning environment. You will foster a safe, respectful classroom culture that embraces academic and cultural diversity while collaborating closely with fellow educators and support staff. Your work will address a wide range of learning styles, abilities, interests, and maturity levels, ensuring all students receive equitable access to high-quality education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ developmental, cognitive, emotional, and social needs to provide appropriate, individualized instruction
- Conduct academic testing and use data alongside classroom observations to inform special education placement decisions
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement integrated, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the school's curricula
- Develop, monitor, and report on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) following established guidelines
- Ensure consistent delivery of differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and other IEP mandates
- Advocate for students’ needs to ensure they receive the support necessary for success
- Evaluate student progress and communicate findings with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration
- Partner with general education teachers to identify and support at-risk students academically and behaviorally
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification: Special Education PK-12 or 7-12
- Strong knowledge of middle and/or high school Math and Language Arts is highly desirable
- Experience with International Baccalaureate MYP program is a plus
- Commitment to inclusive education and ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Excellent research, planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students to promote growth and development
- Proficiency with MS Office and Google Docs
