Programs:
- RISE K5 Early Childhood through Grade 5 (EC6 certified)
- RISE 612 Grades 6 through 12 (EC12 certified)
Program Overview (RISE)
The RISE (Respect, Independence, Success in Education) program provides a substantially separate setting for students with significant cognitive delays and adaptive skill deficits. It emphasizes functional academics, daily living, social/emotional development, and vocational readiness in low studentteacher ratio environments
Required Certifications
- K5 role:
- Texas EC-6 or equivalent early childhood special education certification
- EC-12 Special Education Supplemental is acceptable if aligned with district policy
- 612 role:
- Texas EC-12 Special Education certification (or EC-12 SPED Specialist pending Sept 2025) Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students academic, adaptive, social, and vocational goals
- Deliver functional life skills instruction: cooking, hygiene, money management, community safety, etc.
- Utilize multiple instructional strategies, assistive technologies, and behavior management techniques.
- Organize and lead community-based and real-world learning opportunities (e.g., school store, field trips)
- Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments, maintain data logs, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with co-teachers, general education staff, therapists, paraprofessionals, and families as part of a co-teaching team.
- Lead paraeducators within the classroom, providing guidance and supervision
- Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive environment, including crisis de-escalation and restraint as outlined in IEPs
- Facilitate ARD/IEP or admission/review/dismissal meetings and maintain compliance with all district/state/federal special education regulations.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with families and guardians regarding progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development, maintain active certification, and stay current with best practices in functional curricula and behavior management.
Qualifications & Experience - Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field
- Classroom Experience: At least one year of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities in a life skills or RISE-type environment preferred.
- Essential Skills:
- Proficiency with IEP development and data-driven instructional planning
- Strong classroom and behavior management strategies
- Experience with functional curriculum and life skills instruction
- Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and families
- Comfort providing personal care, medical support, and crisis de-escalation in line with IEPs. Compensation & Benefits
