Position Summary

The Licking County Educational Service Center (ESC) is seeking two dedicated, student-centered School Psychologists to serve school districts in Newark, Ohio and surrounding areas for the 20252026 school year. These full-time roles offer the opportunity to make a direct impact within two vibrant, supportive school communities. We are looking for professionals who are passionate about promoting academic success, mental health, and social-emotional development through evidence-based psychological services.

Open PositionsJohnstown-Monroe Local Schools (K12 Caseload)

You will serve students across elementary, middle, and high school settings in a single district known for its close-knit community and strong academic focus.

Newark City Schools (Primarily High School Caseload)

You will work primarily with high school students in Newark City Schools, supporting student transitions, college and career readiness, and intervention planning.

Both roles are full-time, school-year positions (37.5 hours/week) and are in-personto foster strong collaboration and school-based relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Evaluation:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for academic, behavioral, emotional, and cognitive concerns.

  • Interpret test results and provide meaningful reports to guide educational planning and intervention.

  • Support eligibility determinations for special education and Section 504 accommodations.

  • Consultation & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff to identify student needs and develop intervention strategies.

  • Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS/RTI, and student support meetings.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for behavioral intervention, mental health consultation, and data-informed decision-making.

  • Direct Services & Intervention:

  • Provide individual or group counseling services as appropriate.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs).

  • Engage in crisis response and help maintain a safe and supportive school climate.

  • Program Development & Support:

  • Promote social-emotional learning, mental health awareness, and resilience-building across the student body.

  • Contribute to professional development initiatives for staff related to behavior, trauma, and student wellness.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the school district and ESC network.

    Qualifications

    Required:

  • Masters, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-accredited program

  • Valid Ohio Department of Education School Psychologist License

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Experience with a range of psychological assessment tools and interpretation

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational settings

    Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in K12 or high school settings

  • Familiarity with Ohio's MTSS, PBIS, and special education procedures

  • Crisis response training (e.g., PREPaRE model)

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and buildings
