Gretchen's House, Marquette is accepting applications for an Afternoon Preschool Teacher. Regular work schedules for these openings are 11-5:15 (31.25 hours/week), Monday through Friday.


Staff working 30+ hours/week are eligible for our Student Loan Repayment Program along with: Flexible Benefit Plan options include health, dental, vision, 401K, medical reimbursement, dependent care reimbursement, and short-term disability. Paid time off available for vacation, sick and holidays.


Pay rate: $16.72-$20.10/hour based on educational background.

Afternoon Infant, Toddler and Preschool Teachers support children and families through:

  • Creating a positive learning environment
  • Providing a consistent daily routine
  • Supporting transition and clean-up
  • Assisting with snack and mealtimes
  • Engaging with children in the outdoor classroom
  • Supporting intentional play and learning
  • Supporting children's emotional and physical wellbeing
  • Creating a warm and caring atmosphere for children and families

Afternoon Infant, Toddler and Preschool Teachers support conflict resolution by:

  • Approaching children calmly and stops any hurtful actions
  • Acknowledging children's feelings
  • Gathering information from the children (what happened, what upset the children)
  • Restating the problem
  • Asking children for solutions and encourage them to choose one together
  • Giving follow-up support

Afternoon Infant, Toddler and Preschool Teachers work on a team and will:

  • Contribute to the completion of shared classroom and center tasks
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Be approachable and welcome suggestions
  • Demonstrate flexibility in the classroom
  • Use professional verbal, non-verbal, and written communication
  • Follow NAEYC's Code of Ethical Conduct

Requirements:

  • Completed degree not required. Training and scholarship opportunities provided.
  • Experience working in a group care setting
  • Enthusiasm for working with young children
  • Positive attitude/team player
  • Immunization requirements: MMR, Tdap, Hep B, Varicella, Annual influenza and Covid (current booster required)
