Job Title: Part-time Case Manager/Special Education Teacher (Kindergarten - 8th grade)

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Case Manager/Special Education teacher to join our school-based Student Support Services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for

  • Helping classroom teachers create a positive learning environment for ALL students.
  • Working with Academic Paraprofessionals to ensure they are providing classroom support where needed.
  • Providing guidance and assisting with the design of modified lessons.
  • Providing ongoing student assessment and evaluation, including progress monitoring and identifying goals.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, parents, and the school-based Student Support team.

The Case Manager/Special Education Teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. The Case Manager/Special Education teacher is hired by and directly accountable to the principal. The teacher is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools. The Case Manager/Special Education teacher collaborates with the principal and staff in creating an environment that fosters the ministry of Catholic education and promotes a Catholic culture in the school, oriented towards discipleship. This is currently a part-time position (28 hours per week).

St. John the Baptist Catholic School is located in Longmont, Colorado, and serves students from 3-year-old Preschool through 8th Grade. We serve approximately 200 students. Job Type: Part-time (not benefits eligible, other than state-provided Colorado FAMLI and Healthy Family Workplace Act)


Pay Range: $30.00 - $37.50 per hour

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Special Education.
  • Requires appropriate training, certification, and/or credentialing
  • Preference given to Catholic candidates.
  • Compliance with Safe Environment requirements.

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally live out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).
  • Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Effective listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the necessary background and training in education methods and subject areas.
  • Must have an understanding of child development skills required to relate to the students being taught.
  • Must have appropriate control and discipline techniques to manage a classroom successfully.
  • Must work cooperatively with school staff and administration.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures.
  • Positive references and recommendations.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
