A mental health professional role is available to provide impactful therapy services for K-12 students within a supportive school environment. This full-time, onsite position is based in Avoca, Iowa, with a weekly schedule divided across multiple locationstwo days at Lenox, two days at another school, and one day at AHSTW. The role focuses on delivering individual and group counseling to 6-8 students per day, addressing their emotional, social, and behavioral needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with educators, mental health experts, and community agencies to support student well-being and academic success.
- Identify and assess students educational needs including social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
- Provide interventions such as brief individual and group counseling, crisis response, and family engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community resources to facilitate coordinated care.
- Offer consultation and coaching to staff regarding student behavior management and learning strategies.
- Utilize research to inform practice and administer appropriate assessments.
- Participate in professional development and agency-approved activities.
Qualifications:
- Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from an accredited program or a masters degree in a related mental health field.
- Licensure as a Licensed Independent Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker recognized by the Iowa Department of Health or equivalent.
- School Social Work Endorsement or Statement of Professional Recognition from the Iowa Department of Education.
- Minimum of two years of supervised post-degree clinical experience providing mental health services.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to perform all essential functions with reasonable accommodations if needed.
