Job Description
Our Learning Guides are the heart of the classroom—supporting our young learners ages 3 - 6 in organizing their spaces, regulating their emotions, and applying academic concepts introduced by our onsite Academic Enrichment Director. Guides foster child-led exploration through play-based provocations, nature-inspired activities, and cooperative learning. They serve as both facilitators and gentle leaders, cultivating trust, autonomy, and joy in the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a calm, engaging classroom environment that reflects the current season and child interests
- Support learners in organizing materials, transitioning between activities, and building social-emotional skills
- Reinforce academic concepts introduced during one-on-one enrichment sessions (e.g., pre-literacy, numeracy, fine/gross motor) through hands-on exploration and play
- Observe and document student growth using portfolio tools and anecdotal records
- Model respectful language, mindfulness techniques, and positive redirection
- Collaborate closely with other Guides and the Academic Enrichment Director for curriculum planning and student support
- Foster meaningful relationships with families and contribute to the overall village culture of Community Co.
