SCOPE OF WORK: Provides the administrative and program coordination of the Computer Technology programs at RVCC including Information Technology & Network Administration and Cybersecurity and Healthcare IT. This position reports to the Department Chair for Professional Studies at River Valley Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Leads efforts related to faculty recruitment, orientation, assignment, and evaluation of adjunct instructors and teaching accountabilities, in consultation with the Department Chair for Professional Studies and VPASA.
- Serves as academic advisor to students, evaluates student transcripts for transfer, and promotes student retention.
- Develops course schedule in consultation with the Department Chair for Professional Studies and VPASA with consideration of alternative methods of delivery including Bimodal and Hyflex.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates curricula; maintains program/course documents, and revises as needed in a timely manner. Keeps marketing materials, catalog, & program web pages up to date.
- Works closely with local employers to understand their needs and to deliver curriculum that incorporates industry-recognized credentials.
- Contributes to program review and other assessment initiatives as needed.
- Leads student recruitment efforts through activities such as college open houses and student orientations.
- Manages procurement efforts, including materials and equipment, etc.
- Follows all program processes set forth in the program guidebook.
- Responds to student and general public inquiries.
- Conducts Carl Perkins Grant assessments and required reports.
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from regionally accredited college or university with a major study in liberal arts, education, information technology, business or a closely related field.
Experience: Five (5) years' experience as a teacher, trainer, curriculum/course developer in the field of information technology, network administration, cybersecurity, or closely related experience.
OR
Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major study in liberal arts, education, information technology, business , or closely related field.
Experience: Four (4) years' experience as a teacher, trainer, curriculum/course developer in the field of information technology, network administration, cybersecurity, or closely related experience.
License/Certification: Possession of a valid driver's license or access to transportation.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of the subject matter as it relates to the course of instruction, teaching methods and materials, and curriculum development, and course/program evaluation. Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used for instruction within the program area. Knowledge of educational standards and procedures. Ability to work with and secure the cooperation of others. Ability to maintain comprehensive records of the progress and development of the individual student. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and as a member of academic department/team. Ability to handle matters with diplomacy and to maintain confidentiality, as appropriate. Ability to exercise professional judgment and proper decision-making. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
