We are looking for a compassionate Peer Wellness Specialist to work in ShelterCare's Medical Respite (SMR) subprogram.

The Peer Wellness Specialist is responsible for supporting the program participants of the ShelterCare Medical Respite (SMR) subprogram and helps ensure that all the programs activities, policies and procedures meet the agency's values and mission. Those values include collaboration; person-centered services; result-focused and evidence-based activities; agility and flexibility; integrity and care; a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; and trauma-informed care. The Peer Wellness Specialist will actively participate in the care team planning and case staff meetings; support program participants with connections to providers and care supports; help participants access community resources. The Peer Wellness Specialist is a non-exempt position with a starting wage of $21.81 - $22.10 per hour; based on qualifications. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday and it is an on-site position. This position is considered essential and will be required to work holidays as scheduled. If it's a ShelterCare paid holiday, you will receive holiday pay plus pay for your time worked.
ABOUT SHELTERCARE
ShelterCare is a social services agency that is directed by a board of community volunteers. We have multiple programs in the Eugene/Springfield area. We offer a range of housing solutions combined with wraparound services for families and community members who are experiencing homelessness, on the verge of becoming homeless and have a serious mental illness. Because of the variety of services we offer, we are able to help many people in our community.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
A current Peer Wellness Specialist certification; must be legally able to drive ShelterCare vehicles and transport participants.
Credentials
Must be registered as a Peer Wellness Specialist with the Oregon Health Authority's Traditional Health Worker Registry
Preferred
Experience working with people who have been homeless and/or have mental health needs.
Essential Skills
Effective communication; negotiation and collaboration; scheduling and time management; leadership; risk management; critical thinking and problem solving; use of technology for email, spreadsheets, documents, etc.; ability to handle confidential material; ability to organize and prioritize work.
