Summary
This is a full-time M-F position located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Individuals in this apprentice role will train for approximately 9-12 months. Once fully trained you will move to the next level, "qualified technician" with corresponding pay increase above the posted starting rate. You will enjoy learning both independently and with others and not be afraid to ask questions while learning new skills. The role is accountable for the setup, adjustment, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting/repair of machines and related weaving equipment in manner that supports production and quality goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Set-up weaving machines according to fabric specifications.
• Monitor and fix machines and make repairs when production runs fail.
• Complete new product start-ups.
• Understands and follows Barrday customers’ high-quality specifications and works with
weavers to resolve quality problems.
• Assists and contributes to the resolution of quality issues.
• Completes and enters data into a computer system.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning machines and overhauls as
required.
• Backs ups all weaving functions including monitoring the machines, measuring, and
recording widths.
• Ensures 5S and lean philosophies are practiced and sustained in daily activities.
• Keeps all equipment and work areas clean and well maintained and left in excellent
condition for the next shift.
• Works in a manner that promotes a safe environment and deals with unsafe issues
immediately.
• Other duties as assigned, including cross training within the department and other areas.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
• Related education or experience in mechanics / millwright / electrical or similar courses;
electronics / electrical experience would be a definite asset.
• Good mechanical aptitude. Are you able to fix your own car, fix a lawnmower, make
things out of wood, at home maintenance...? If so, you might be a good fit!
• Ability to speak and read instructions competently in English.
• Good math skills, use of calculator as related to measurement and quantity calculations.
• Knowledge and ability to work with metric measurements.
• Dependable, effective team player willing to cross train and take on new duties.
• Excellent attention to detail and safety.
• Must commit to the assigned work schedule and willing to work overtime if needed.
• Basic knowledge and comfortable using computers to input data.
• Must adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
Working Conditions:
• Regular lifting of up to 25lbs. Occasional lifting of up to 60lbs with the assistance of tools
and lifts. Considerably moving, bending, pushing, walking.
