Job DescriptionSalary: Starting Minimum $70,000
JOB SUMMARY:
The Preschool Academy Principal is the chief academic officer of the Preschool Academy and a member of the senior management team, responsible for overall operation and management, maintaining educational quality standards, retaining students, maintaining open communication with parents, and representing the Academy to community groups.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommends Academy staff hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Supervises and evaluates the Assistant Principal and other direct-report staff.
- Oversees implementation of preschool curriculum and lesson plans
- Collects and reports student developmental assessment data.
- Provides inhouse training and professional development for Academy staff.
- Ensures compliance with licensure, accreditation, and institutional standards and policies.
- Conducts meetings of Academy staff to discuss and coordinate Academy policy and procedures.
- Assists in marketing the Academy in the local community and recruiting students.
- Maintains target student enrollment at all times.
- Ensures proper and timely completion of student enrollment documentation.
- Develops and maintains positive and open communication with parents of Academy students.
- Conducts meetings of parents of Academy students.
- Conducts orientation for parents of Academy students using Preschool Academy Handbook as a guide.
- Publishes monthly Academy digital newsletter for parents of Academy students.
- Manages the Academy budget.
- Authorizes administrative and financial request forms.
- Submits reports to the President, as requested.
- Represents the Academy to outside groups and organizations, as assigned by the President.
- Serves as ex officio member of Academy Parents Council.
- Serves as voting member of the Board's Programs & Assessment and Scholarships & Recognitions Committees and attends trustee meetings.
- Serves as Community Liaison to the homeowners/civic association.
- Provides such other related duties as may, from time-to-time, be assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Master's degree or higher, in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, or related field.
YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a licensed childcare facility or school.
OTHER RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of computers and computing (specifically MSOffice).
- CPR/First Aid and Food Handling certifications.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills, as well as demonstrated organizational skills and curriculum experience.
- Willingness and ability to work regular early morning and late evening hours.
- Experience in accredited early childhood education program.
- Fluency in Spanish or other foreign language helpful but not required.
