Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years special education experience required.
This position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide specialized education to K-3rd grade students with high needs in an adaptive, self-contained classroom setting. The role includes working closely with a dedicated team, supported by three full-time paraprofessionals, to address the individualized educational needs of approximately 6-8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress regularly to adjust instructional strategies as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to promote student growth and well-being.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Exceptional Childrens Teacher License.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-3rd grade) in a special education setting.
- Strong understanding of adaptive/self-contained classroom dynamics and high-needs student requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and other educational team members.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
