An opportunity is available for a dedicated professional specializing in education for students with visual impairments. This position serves a K-12 caseload, providing specialized instruction and support to students who are blind or visually impaired. The role requires a commitment to fostering student independence and success through tailored educational strategies.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
- Delivering direct instruction and support aligned with students academic and functional vision needs.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure comprehensive educational experiences.
- Utilizing adaptive technologies and materials designed for visually impaired learners.
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching approaches as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments across all K-12 grade levels.
- Knowledge of the unique educational challenges and accommodations involved in supporting visually impaired students.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to student-centered instructional methods.
