Slate Construction Group is hiring a motivated team member with apartment make-ready experience to train as a tub and tile resurfacing tech. This role offers commission for resurfacing work plus hourly pay for support tasks — This gives you more stability and income potential than a typical technician job. A real blessing in the inconsistent construction industry.

The role begins with a maximum 3-week hands-on training period to learn the art of resurfacing, candidates who show consistency, skill, strong work ethic, and accountability will have increased opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn and refine your abilities as a professional resurfacing technician over 3 weeks (tubs, surrounds, cabinets, countertops)

• Support general make-ready tasks, including:

  • Subfloor installation

  • Ceramic tile & LVP flooring

  • Drywall repair (tape & mud)

  • Painting (spray, roll, brush)

  • Light fixture, appliance, faucet, and toilet installs

• Help with site prep, cleanup, punch-out work, and occasional material pickups

• Work across both occupied and vacant apartment units

3 WEEK Training Phase & Pay Structure:

• $10/hr TRAINING RATE

• Participate in 3–6 resurfacing jobs per week, plus other make ready ready tasks

• Variable hours based on scheduling

• Tools provided

• No guaranteed weekly hours during training phase

AFTER TRAINING (Technician Status):

• Move into commission-based refinishing work, with hourly pay for non-refinishing tasks

• Weekly pay potential ranges from $700–$1,200 before taxes based on:

  • Number of jobs completed

  • Speed, quality, and reliability

  • Breadth of skills applied (resurfacing + make-ready)

  • Willingness to be a top performer

• Performance reviewed at 90 days

• Once training is successfully completed, you’ll be provided:

  • A company van

  • Your own professional refinishing equipment

  • A complete set of make-ready tools
