Our three regional affiliates work across four rural and urban school districts to provide over 90,000 Nevada students at 110 high poverty schools a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult and a safe place to learn and grow to break down whatever barriers may exist in their lives. With more than 120 + community partners, we coordinate resources and services — literally bringing Community into our Schools — to do whatever it takes in supporting the students we serve. CIS of Nevada is one of 28 state offices in a national network with more than 45 years of experience implementing our evidence-based solution for 1.7 million students. In 2022-2023, CIS of Nevada case managed students celebrated a K-12 promotion rate of 99% and our statewide high school graduation rate of 95%.

Job Purpose/Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of the CIS Full Service Community school program sites, Program and Outreach operations, and Community programming. Work closely with site staff, CIS/FCSC staff, community agencies, parents/families, and students to assure coordination of services and initiatives for the benefit of students and their families. Responsible for overseeing school site implementation of the CIS Model and Full Service Community school model at each of the identified sites within the directors region. Oversees Site Coordinators in cohort in the development, planning, implementation, and supervision of tasks associated with the annual School Support Plans to include Tier I, Tier II and Tier III services. Monitors CIS and FSCS school-wide and student goals to ensure progress to meeting goals. Works closely with & reports to the Executive Director to ensure Site Coordinators' oversight and development needs are met. Works closely with school staff, parents/families, community agencies and students to assure coordination of services for the benefit of the students and their families. Performs all reasonable and work-related duties assigned by CIS of Nevada leadership. Oversees the coordination of services and building of relationships with community partners for the benefit of the students and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities

Train, orientate, supervise and coach comprehensive site staff

  • Provide effective leadership to direct reports by articulating and promoting high standards of service, ethics and professional conduct.
  • Provide ongoing training, support and troubleshooting to all Direct reports.
  • Assist with, attend, and/or chaperone all CIS and FSCS special events or arrange for appropriate oversight if unable to attend.
  • Assist Site Coordinators in formulating both the Needs Assessment & the School Support Plan. Assist Full Service Coordinators in formulating Full Service Support Plan.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to Coordinators in formulating and implementing campus Tier I, II, and III supports. Ensure Tier I, II, and III supports are being implemented according to the school support plan and in accordance with national standards.
  • Facilitate meetings with school site administration for approval and signatures on School Support Plan, School Support Agreement and Full Service Support Plan.
  • Facilitate comprehensive end-of-year site assessments.
  • Review and oversee case management documentation, follow-up, and quality assistance to students and families.
  • Provide Coordinators and site team with updated information regarding affiliate leadership and other organizational updates.

Manage employee performance:

  • Continuously monitor staff performance measures to ensure organizational goals are being met.
  • Conduct 90 Day and Annual Performance Reviews with newly hired staff.
  • Facilitate and ensure the submittal of all applicable human resource documents to the Human Resources department.
  • Ensure proper documentation and approval of direct reports semi-monthly timesheets & calendar reporting.
  • Supervise the work of Coordinators by regularly visiting each school site, meeting with CIS personnel and directly observing work at the site. Schedule meetings at least twice a month with each Coordinator.
  • Supervise the work of site and full service coordinators by analyzing the schools they manage and the related performance of school and student outcomes.
  • Supervise community coordinators by analyzing the metrics determined annually for each program and any outstanding grants related to the programs operated.
  • Provide coaching, feedback and suggestions for continued success or improvement for all direct reports.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for each Direct Report.
  • Conduct annual career development plans with staff.

Full Service Community Schools and Community Program Duties:

  • Manages implementation of community programs, this includes reporting, recruiting and supervising volunteers, develop and maintain positive relationships with school staff/site administrators.
  • Oversee the implementation of data-driven interventions related to key priority areas which may include but are not limited to: Improving daily student attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism, Increasing positive student behavior, Increasing math and reading proficiency among students performing below grade level, Increasing school climate, Increasing social/emotional learning, Increased use of trauma informed care practices
  • Communicate with the other Nevada affiliates and work with the state office to ensure collaboration on all levels so that FSCS initiatives are in concert with the organization’s mission and model.
  • Oversee the community coordinators in collaboration with school staff to provide or broker appropriate services to address attendance, behavioral, course performance, and physical or social services for students in need and ensure compliance with school district policies and procedures.

Data Responsibilities:

  • Utilize data analysis to effectively guide Coordinators in adapting programming and supports to optimize student outcomes.
  • Monitor GYS data, individual case management data and full student body data to ensure students are making progress and goals are being met.
  • Assist in the generation of reports to share outcomes with the Communities In Schools leadership team, defined program partners, school principals, the school leadership teams, and additional funders/donors/educators as requested.
  • Review & share quarterly data reporting to school administrators and grants team.
  • Coordinate ongoing staff data training with Data Manager.
  • Communicate Accreditation updates, training, and support needs to Data and Grants Team.
  • Monitor & provide monthly data feedback to direct reports.

Site Staff and Campus Connections:

  • Communicate regularly with school administration and community partners.
  • Communicate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with site staff/school administration.
  • Ensure coordinators and CIS are actively working to increase and strengthen campus relations, knowledge, and organizational visibility.
  • Provide Coordinators with continual exposure to outside agency resources and training.
  • Participate as an active team member of the CIS Affiliate, through attendance and active participation in meetings, training, professional development, fundraising activities, and other activities as required.
  • Attend and participate actively in all required CIS staff meetings.
  • Organize and facilitate Coordinator monthly meetings.
  • Participate in CIS personal and professional development training.
  • Assist in the preparation for and execution of CIS fundraising activities and events.

Qualifications include:

  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral communication) a must.
  • Well-connected in education, social service and/or business community.
  • Excellent organizational, training, coordination, fundraising and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree. A combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience desirable.
  • Knowledge of data collection and proficiency tracking progress within the framework consistent with our programmatic requirement.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Maybe exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office and classroom setting.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, possible fingerprinting and drug screen.
