Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS) provide support to individuals recovering from substance use disorders. Rooted in the person-centered care plan, these services extend beyond the clinical setting and focus on fostering meaningful connections within home and community environments. PRSS staff use their own lived experience in recovery to guide, mentor, and empower others to engage in and sustain their personal recovery journey.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Lived experience of recovery from substance use disorders.
· Preferred qualifications include at least one (1) year of experience working with consumers with substance use challenges.
· At least two (2) years of sobriety are required.
· State or nationally recognized peer certification or training as required by the West Virginia
Department of Health and Human Services (DoHS).
