Job Summary

Maharishi International University is seeking a professional and mission-aligned Sports Programs Coordinator to help lead the next phase of development for our growing collegiate athletics program. This uniquely integrated role combines program coordination, recruiting leadership, and student-athlete admissions support to create a seamless experience for student-athletes and coaches alike.

The position will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director and have a leadership role within the department. They will oversee day-to-day operations of all varsity sports, including leading and coordinating recruiting efforts, ensuring a unified and strategic approach to building strong, mission-aligned teams. This includes managing systems and processes, supporting coaches, and ensuring compliance with NAIA recruiting regulations.

They will also serve as a bridge between Athletics and Admissions, ensuring that every prospective student-athlete receives outstanding guidance and support throughout their journey—from recruitment and application to enrollment and performance on the field. This position is ideal for a leader who is ready to grow with an emerging athletics department—and who sees themselves taking on increasing leadership responsibility, with the long-term potential to move into the Associate Athletic Director and eventually Athletic Director role.

Key Responsibilities

Sports Program Oversight

    • Manage day-to-day operations of all varsity sports programs
    • Support coaches in scheduling, budgeting, logistics, and internal communication
    • Ensure alignment of each program with the university’s Consciousness-Based Sports principles
    • Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration between Athletics, Academics, and Student Life
    • Assist in long-term planning and visioning with the Associate Athletic Director & Athletic Director

Recruiting Strategy & Coordination

    • Develop and implement a coordinated recruitment strategy for all varsity sports
    • Partner with coaches to identify, engage, and track prospective student-athletes
    • Oversee recruiting tools, systems, and events such as campus visits and ID camps
    • Generate reports from accurate recruiting records and performance data
    • Ensure all recruitment activity is in full compliance with NAIA regulations

Sports Admissions Liaison Duties

    • Act as the primary point of contact for prospective student-athletes throughout the admissions process
    • Build strong working relationships with the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid
    • Assist prospective students in navigating their application, including paperwork, eligibility, and enrollment
    • Help create a welcoming and mission-aligned admissions experience rooted in care and clarity
    • Track and report recruitment pipeline data in collaboration with Admissions and coaching staff

Culture & Leadership Development

    • Be an active leader in fostering a department culture rooted in inner development
    • Model and promote the use of the Consciousness-Based Sports methodology, including the Transcendental Meditation technique
    • Support student-athletes in their growth as individuals and team members
    • Serve as a visible ambassador for MIU Athletics and its holistic mission

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

    • Enthusiastic about joining a new and growing athletics program with a mission to reimagine sports through a holistic lens
    • Openness to learning and supporting our Consciousness-Based Sports methodology, including integration of practices such as the Transcendental Meditation technique
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
    • Familiarity with NAIA compliance systems and protocols strongly preferred
    • Proven organizational, communication, and leadership skills
    • Experience working across departments with diverse student-athlete populations
    • Strong Project Management abilities

Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong network within collegiate athletics
    • Demonstrated track record of successful recruiting
    • 2+ years of experience in collegiate athletics operations, recruiting, or compliance
