An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support early childhood students in a dynamic school environment. This full-time, contract role spans the academic year and is based in the Silver Spring, MD area. The position requires an itinerant teacher who is fortable traveling between multiple early childhood school settings to provide specialized instruction and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional strategies tailored to the learning needs of young children with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of educational outes and goals.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse learner needs and ply with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with early childhood populations (typically ages 3-5).
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and differentiated instruction techniques.
- Excellent munication and organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel between various school locations within the designated area.
