Our Client is seeking Special Education Teachers to work in Brooklyn, NY for the upcoming 2025-2026 School year. Compensation range dependent on experience is $48-$52 per hour.
Special Education teachers are passionate about developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs. Special Education teachers advocate for students and believe that specialized instruction and related services increase academic achievement. Special Education teachers offer academic, emotional, and physical support while maintaining high expectations.
The 15:1 teacher is responsible for:
" Create and modify curriculum that is aligned with NY State Regents standards and prepares students to take and pass these exams.
" Create and modify lesson plans in English, math, science and history that meet the diverse and unique needs of all students in the class cohort.
" Design and implement lessons to prepare students to take and succeed on NY State Regents exams.
" Align lesson plans and strategies with students' IEP goals.
" Create modified interim assessments in English, math, science and history that are aligned to NY State Regents exams.
" Conduct data analysis on assessments to understand student mastery and the need for reteach.
" Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that offer appropriate accommodations and modifications.
" Create an inclusive and safe environment where students feel empowered to grow and develop their learning.
2. Special Education Specific Responsibilities
" Collaborate with school leaders and families to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments and ensure compliance with Individualized Education Plans.
" Manage a caseload of IEPs, including gathering academic growth data, writing IEPs, and participating in IEP meetings.
" As necessary, employ multiple strategies in the classroom, including small group and one-on-one instruction, and implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom.
3. School Culture
" Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, supported, and heard.
" Partner with students' families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs.
" Engage in practice-based professional development, practice clinics and coaching sessions.
" Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model our core values, and encourage student achievement.
" Partner with your grade level team and 15:1 team to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.
4. Qualifications
" A demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development
" An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students
" A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives
" Required Experience:
o A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (3-5 years' experience preferred).
o Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields of study.
o Prior to the start of employment, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
o Special Education Certification (7-12 or K-12) is preferred
