Lad Lake is a COA-accredited, nonprofit, independent organization serving youth and families across Wisconsin. For over 170 years, we’ve supported thousands of individuals through trauma-informed care, education, and community services. We’re looking for a dedicated ELA Teacher to join our team and make a difference every day.
What a Day in the Life of an ELA Teacher Looks Like:

Develop and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with state standards and the school’s curriculum.

Differentiate instruction to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with trauma histories or learning challenges.

Incorporate critical thinking, problem-solving, and social-emotional learning (SEL) into daily instruction.

Foster a safe, predictable classroom environment that emphasizes empathy, structure, and belonging.

Use restorative practices and positive behavior supports to maintain a positive learning space.

Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.

Maintain accurate student records, including grades, academic evaluations, and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Participate in ongoing professional development, including trauma-informed practices and SEL.

Build supportive relationships with students from diverse racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
What You Bring to the Table:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required).
-
Wisconsin DPI Teaching License or Substitute License (preferred).
-
Experience working with emotionally and behaviorally disabled (EBD) students or other vulnerable youth.

2–3 years of successful classroom experience with strong behavior management skills.

Knowledge of trauma-informed education and a passion for student development.

Ability to communicate effectively, manage time well, and demonstrate sound judgment.
