Position Summary:
The Nurse Educator will be responsible for development and training of staff members to assure they maintain patient care and other competencies. Will participate in development and monitoring of Department Clinical Ladders program. Monitors assignments and participates in the orientation and training of new staff including department Preceptor program. Will work with other Nurse Educators to develop comprehensive Annual Competency Skills Labs and assure training and Labs fit the educational needs of staff. Will perform other duties as assigned by Director.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement educational programs for nursing staff on topics such as patient care, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance the skills of nurses in various specialties including pediatrics and acute care.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to assess educational needs and tailor programs accordingly.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational initiatives through assessments and feedback.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in nursing education and clinical care.
- Assist in the development of medical documentation standards and protocols.
- Provide ongoing support and mentorship to nursing staff to promote professional growth.
Experience
- A minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience in a acute care hospital care setting is preferred.
- Proven experience in adult education or training within a healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and patient care practices.
- Familiarity with acute care settings and pediatric nursing is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage learners effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Requires Current State of California Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Requires current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification.
