POSITION OVERVIEW
As our Middle School Math Teacher, you'll create engaging, rigorous mathematical experiences that move students beyond achievement gaps while building deep conceptual understanding. Working within our innovative EL Education framework, you'll design individualized learning plans that help every scholar see mathematics as accessible, relevant, and exciting.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design Engaging Mathematical Experiences:
- Develop and execute math-focused units of study aligned with State Standards and EL Education curriculum
- Create lesson plans that promote in-depth understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving mastery
- Utilize authentic formative and summative assessments to gauge learning and guide instruction
- Implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to address diverse learning needs
- Keep current with mathematics curriculum, pedagogy, and learning theories
Foster Mathematical Confidence:
- Establish classroom cultures that are safe, collaborative, and intellectually challenging for all students
- Use evidence and data to inform instruction and create individualized learning plans
- Encourage mathematical risk-taking and embrace mistakes as learning opportunities
- Build positive relationships with families to strengthen mathematical learning at home
- Utilize community building practices that create inclusive, respectful learning environments
Drive Student Achievement:
- Monitor and supervise effective classroom structures promoting active, student-driven learning
- Maintain academically-focused environments with effective instructional material management
- Participate in ongoing curriculum reviews and provide feedback on program effectiveness
- Collaborate with grade-level teams on instruction, assessment, and documentation
- Engage in continuous professional development and collaborative planning
WHAT YOU BRING
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Wisconsin teaching license in Mathematics or eligibility for certification
- Strong mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical skills
- Experience with middle school mathematics instruction preferred
- Understanding of differentiated instruction and MTSS frameworks
Leadership Qualities:
- Passion for helping students overcome academic and opportunity gaps
- Ability to establish individualized learning plans for struggling learners
- Strong commitment to working with diverse racial/cultural populations
- Growth mindset with openness to evaluation, coaching, and feedback
