Job Title: Development Director, Workplace

Department: Development

Reports To: National Director, Workplace Initiatives

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $78,000.00 - $85,000.00

JOB DESCRIPTION

Development Director, Workplace reporting to the National Director, Workplace Initiatives, is responsible for working with 20-25 businesses to develop and implement strategies that increase workplace fundraising campaigns. They successfully represent UNCF while cultivating positive relationships with external campaign coordinators, and other community stakeholders. Development Directors work in a team-oriented atmosphere and collaborate with National & Regional Workplace Directors, Area Development Directors and others to organize and schedule campaign activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The ideal candidate is energetic, self-motivated and has a strong desire to make a difference in their community.

They must be committed to enhancing their professional skills in the areas of public speaking, leadership, customer service, and relationship building, while increasing their knowledge of community needs.

The successful Development Director is interested in networking and is resourceful and persistent.

They present the UNCF message to local employees and ensure the collection and safekeeping of funds contributed by donors.

Responsibilities also include assisting National & Regional Workplace Directors with planning and implementing major Workplace campaign kickoff events

Delivering campaign materials, maintaining account files, coordination charitable applications and attachments

Scheduling meetings, arranging for speakers, agency tours, and fairs.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Generate queries, reports, exports, and other collection data as needed.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and at least 5-7 years experience in fundraising, marketing, programs or public relations.

Ability to think critically and communicate clearly.

Excellent organizational skills.

Outstanding human relations and managerial aptitude.

Demonstrated initiative and ability to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Exceptional responsiveness and a capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to travel locally and nationally.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Volunteer management and training; planning and logistics of small workplace events

Salary Range: $78,000.00 To $85,000.00 per year (Salary is commensurate with experience.) This is a hybrid role: 4 days on-site and 1-day remote per week, located in UNCF’s Washington DC Headquarters building.
