JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Educational Specialist, DYCD COMPASS Program
FLSA: Non - Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Youth Services
REPORTS TO: ProgramDirector
LOCATION: Bronx, NY
SALARY: $35.00- $38.00 Hourly
SUMMARY:
The Education Specialist will identify suitable curricula focusing on literacy and STEM, help staff create activity plans, oversee implementation of program activities, foster continuous quality improvement, and build productive relationships with the schools attended by program participants. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies suitable literacy, STEM, and other academic curricula that meets the needs of participating youth.
- Assists Youth Counselors in creating activity plans that maximize learning potential and support each young person’s academic abilities and needs.
- Oversees the implementation of academic programming, ensuring an optimal learning environment.
- Fosters continuous quality improvement through data-informed decision-making, providing effective supervision of Youth Counselors on academic instruction, and providing professional development for the team.
- Creates relationships with the schools attended by program participants and ensures that DYCD COMPASS programming supports the school day curriculum.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree and expertise and experience in curriculum development and implementation. Master’s Degree and teaching credentials preferred. High energy, dynamic personality and genuine passion for youth needed.
