The Client Experience and Meaningful Life Department on the Manhattan campus is seeking interns to join our team!
Job Summary: Assist Community Life Activities, Volunteers, Religious Life & Therapeutic Recreation staff in running meaningful engagement activities with the residents both one- to- one and in a group setting.
Job Duties:
- Assist staff with on-unit activities including sing- along, music appreciation, exercise, dance, games, crafts etc.
- Provide one-on-one interactions such as reading to resident, Music & Memory, Technology, letter writing, games, and conversation.
- Assist with transportation to off-unit programming.
- Assist with off-unit programs as needed but not limited to: transporting residents to and from program, and decorating the auditorium.
- Assist with hanging monthly Activity Calendars and decorating communities.
- Assists in guiding volunteers and volunteer group projects.
- Coaches and mentors new volunteers.
- Takes an active role in new volunteer onboarding, i.e. communication with potential volunteers, assisting with tracking and transitioning into registered volunteers.
- Assists with Volunteer Office clerical functions, such as logistics, record keeping, ID making.
- Position shift includes weekends/evenings, 20-23 hours part time per week
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Must be a high school or college student
- Must have previous volunteer or intern experience at The New Jewish Home
