A K-12 school in Brighton, MI is seeking a Special Education Teacher to cover an FMLA vacancy from August 25, 2025, to approximately November 21, 2025. This position is a contract role for the 2025-2026 school year.
The assignment involves supporting a lower elementary Resource Classroom serving 10 students in grades K-2. The caseload typically includes students with needs in Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), and Other Health Impairments (OHI).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive education and student progress.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student development and concerns.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working with K-2 students with disabilities, particularly in the areas of Speech, ASD, SLD, and OHI.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Duration: Contract for the 2025-2026 school year (FMLA leave coverage from Aug 25 to ~Nov 21, 2025)
