Middle School Group Leader - After School

Location: Whittier, CA (within 11 school sites in the Whittier City School District)
Job Type: Part time
Hours: Mon, Wed, Thurs, & Fri - 2:15pm - 6:00pm & Tues - 11:30/12:15pm - 5:30/6pm Rate: $18.25/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Group Leader to join our after-school program serving middle school students. In this role, you will lead engaging enrichment activities, provide academic support, and help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
Job Responsibilities:
Plan and lead educational and enrichment activities, including projects, arts, and recreational activities.
Supervise students to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Encourage student participation and engagement in program activities.
Maintain attendance records.
Implement program rules and behavior expectations.
Assist with program setup, cleanup, and material organization.
Collaborate with other staff to create a dynamic and supportive afterschool program.
Qualifications:
Experience working with middle school aged students in an educational or recreational setting.
48 college credits/AA or equivalency test
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage a group of students and create a positive learning environment.
Passion for education and youth development.
Background in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring is a plus.
