Job Description
AHRC NYC is seeking a Senior Nurse Educator. The Senior Nurse Educator provides coordination and expertise in the creation, planning and execution of workplace education and knowledge transfer practices within the agency for medically related and/or clinical trainings.
Salary: $90,000 per year...plus a comprehensive Benefit package. See Benefit information below.
Schedule: Monday -Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement on-site and centralized training in broad range of compliance, safety and service-related issues, including OSHA; Diabetes Management, Dysphagia, Incident Reporting; HIPAA Requirements; AMAP/AMAP Refresher; First Aid; CPR; and other similar topics.
- Assist with relevant curricula development and develop/provide instruction for Train the Trainer sessions with AHRC nursing staff, including OPWDD’s diabetes training for nursing staff.
- Participate in Incident Review and Medical Error meetings.
- Provide instructional support to new RNs, as needed.
- Consult with program departments regarding available educational resources.
- Provide ad hoc on-site training and refreshers where instructional need is identified (e.g., diet consistencies, addressing swallowing issues, etc.)
- Participate in cross-departmental transfer of information and curricula, as directed by function manager.
- Participate in external trainings to stay current in compliance, safety and service-related information, techniques and requirements.
- Participate in special training projects as developed.
Qualifications
- Must be a registered nurse and have at least five years of staff training experience.
- Must demonstrate proof of RN certification, CPR competency, driver’s license. BSN preferred, AMAP Instructor experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities required.
