Summary
The Essex Aftercare Program of Essex Preschool seeks a dynamic educator with a vision for extracurricular experience for children to co-create an a theme based aftercare program with the director. The ideal candidate can lead and inspire a staff delivery of an exceptional aftercare experience.The Aftercare Coordinator is responsible for planning a program that meets extracurricular play and homework support needs of students, creates engaging programming, and provides emotional support and comfort to students in the absence of their parents. The Aftercare Coordinator supervises all aspects of the aftercare program for grades preschool - sixth.

Duties
Key Responsibilities
- Creating routines, schedules, program activities, supervising staff members between the hours of 2:30 - 6:00. Additional hours in the summertime.
- Provide care for students after school, including monitoring them, creating engaging activities, helping with homework, and preparing snacks
- Plan activities that meet program goals, ensure the safety of children, and communicate with parents, staff and director.
- Maintain facility and equipment, keep records, and attend meetings
- Develops activities, trains and supervises staff, and maintains communication between school and program staff
- Coordinates daily operations, organizes programming, and performs administrative duties
- Organize and supervise walking fields trips in Essex Village: library, town Green, etc.
- Provides emotional support, manages student behavior, follows incident report procedures, and regularly communicates with parents
- Ensures the aftercare environment is safe, follows security protocols, practices safety and security procedures with staff and students
- Assistant director with administrative tasks
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Prior experience with school aged children as an elementary school teacher, camp counselor, or childcare center or related area
- Prior experience with preschool aged children
- Administrative and leadership experience supervising children
- First Aid, CPR, Medicine administration and EpiPen trained or willingness to be trained
- Prior experience supervising, training and hiring staff members
- Must clear a full background check and must pass health screening.
Educational Requirements
- Prefer Associates or Bachelors Degree
- Post secondary education; college credits; working toward degree
Nice To Haves
CPR First Aid certificate, or willingness to acquire
Medicine administration and EpiPen use or willingness to acquire
Prior Experience with elementary aged students
Prior Experience creating programs/curriculum for elementary aged studens
Knowledge of the needs of the developmental preschool aged students.
Experience working with special needs student
