The McLean Bible Church Access Ministry program, at our Prince William location, is seeking a servant leader and disciple-maker with a specific passion for families affected by disability, and who also has a passion for organization. This job will focus on developing volunteer leaders and caring for families, children, teens and adults with special needs as well as managing details for Access Ministry. This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week.

The Coordinator role oversees the operations of Sunday Beautiful Blessings and Buddy Program programming, as well as Respite events. The position serves as a resource to church leaders as an inclusionary specialist in children, teens and adult ministries whenever assistance is needed with adapting or modifying programs. The position will also manage intake of incoming participants for Access Ministry and will require working with our Kid’s Quest Children’s ministry and the Rock Student ministry teams.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic oversight for the development, outreach, and growth of Beautiful Blessings, the Buddy Program, and Respite events
    • Manage and maintain the Access Beautiful Blessings classroom environment
    • Conduct intake meetings with incoming families to ensure a welcoming and informed introduction to the ministry
    • Coordinate and support volunteer engagement across all areas of the ministry
    • Disciple and care for lead volunteers, equipping and empowering them for effective ministry service
    • Intentionally invest in the care and spiritual growth of families involved in Access
    • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals in the special needs community (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of the developmental needs of individuals with special needs (e.g., cognitive, emotional, behavioral, physical).
  • Ability to customize teaching approaches, materials, and environments to meet individual needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting individuals with special needs in their developmental journey
  • Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping, and developing volunteers preferred
  • Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.), willingness to learn new software systems (Ministry Platform, Planning Center, others)
  • Great organizational skills, people skills, including flexibility and patience
  • Great communication, problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Reliable, team player, teachable, and professional in all areas of conduct
  • Has demonstrated life and conduct consistent with MBC’s vision, values and teachings
  • First Aid and CPR certified preferred
  • Has a servant’s heart towards caregivers and program participants
  • Knowledge of the Bible and ability to share the Christian faith
  • Passion for serving the church.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to read, speak, and hear. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, bend, kneel, and lift. The individual is required to be able to lift and carry items that can weigh 25 pounds or more for short distances. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
