Job Summary: The Training Assistant will provide training to all employees including orientation, initial training as required for new employees, and re-certification training along with other duties to support The Opportunity Tree.


$1,000 hiring bonus for new hires, paid after 12 full pay periods (approximately six months); other incentives for referring full or part time employees who are hired to work at The Opportunity Tree.

Essential Job Functions:


1. Trainer for The Opportunity Employees.

  • Must be certified to train in Article 9 and Prevention and Support per the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) standards and regulations.
  • Must be certified to train in CPR and First Aid by a nationally recognized organization.
  • Responsible to develop and implement other training as necessary to include training which is required by DDD to be completed by new employees within 90 days.
  • Completes the orientation for new employees to include new hire paperwork and review of the Employee Handbook among other documents and policies.
  • May develop other training or in-services as necessary for staff development purposes.
  • Monitors and schedules of required training of employees prior to expiration of to ensure smooth operational support of Members.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and updates to the internal and external training tracking, which contain all required certifications and documents to ensure compliance of employees.

2. Liaison for Training and Operations to support supervisors and employees.

3. Special projects for The Opportunity Tree as directed by the Training Manager.

4. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding Members, Employees, and The Opportunity Tree.

5. Advocate on behalf of the Members and their families to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have a voice.

6. Compliant with attendance rules.

7. Promote and maintain a collaborative and respectful working environment and an open line of communications with all stakeholders of The Opportunity Tree.

8. Comply and enforce the Policies, Procedures, and Regulations of The Opportunity Tree.

9. Other job duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 18 years of age
  2. Driver license with Non-Restricted Motor Vehicle Record and compliance per the requirements of The Opportunity Tree’s policy.
  3. Communicate in English; speech, write and read.
  4. Experience: One year of experience preferred in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) field.
  5. Education: High school diploma or GED.
  6. Certified instructor for CPR, 1st Aid, Article 9, and Prevention & Support.
  7. Knowledge: Intermediate in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, web browser (experience with other business software is helpful).
  8. Personal enthusiasm for participation in a non-profit organization providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  9. Positive attitude and ability to represent The Opportunity Tree’s effectively in the community. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with Members, staff, families, funders and stakeholders.
  10. Successful completion and maintain all required training which may include CPR, First Aid, and Prevention and Support.
  11. Successfully meet AZ-DPS requirements for Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  12. Reliable transportation and travel for The Opportunity Tree’s business.
