LOCATION: Utqiavik, Alaska or Remote
DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs
REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
WORK SCHEDULE: Per Semester/Course Contract
COMPENSATION: $1,150 to $1,725 per credit, determined by education credentials

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Teaches one to three Business classes at Iisavik College in Fall 2025. Fall semester begins 8/18/25 and concludes 11/26/25. The following 3-credit courses need instructors. Please visit https://catalog.ilisagvik.edu/ for a full course description:
- BUS 105 Introduction to Business Wednesday 5:30-7pm AKST
- BUS 233 Introduction to Financial Management Tuesday 7:30-9pm AKST
- BUS 333 Financial Management Thursdays 7:30-9pm AKST
- BUS 334 Human Resources Management Tuesday 5:30-7pm AKST
There may be flexibility with the schedule of classes and class modalities. Instructor may be located on-site in Utqiavik, AK or deliver via synchronous means (Zoom, etc.) and asynchronous means (via Iisaviks LMS, Moodle) via distance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum.
- Utilizes student LMS (Moodle MyCampus).
- Develops and submits current course syllabus, using the college template.
- Prepares administrative documents, such as student withdrawals and attendance.
- Evaluates student performance and timely submits midterm and final grades to the registrar.
- Maintains office hours (in-person, telephonically, or online).
- Participates in professional development as necessary to be proficient in the colleges current technologies and learning platform.
- Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated professional and/or teaching experience in the subject area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Proficient in Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, or similar fields.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
- Demonstrated experience with distance delivery.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
- Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
- Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
- Ability to support Iisavik Colleges mission.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field(s).
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
- Doctorate degree or equivalent in the area of instruction.
