Summary
The person selected for this position will be responsible for the overall supervision and management of a class of children. This person is responsible to the Director for providing instruction and nurture for a class of children and for supervising the activities of individuals assigned as assistants or volunteers.
Duties
- Teach the assigned children by preparing and carrying out lesson plans (including goals and objectives)
- Maintain a portfolio on each child
- Planning, supervising and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Preschool
- Gearing the program to the needs of the individual child with concerns for his/her interests, special needs, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning
- Maintain open communication with families of assigned children
- Communicate weekly through Brightwheel messaging and/or class newsletter
- Conduct formal parent/teacher conferences as scheduled
- Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor and learning environment of the classroom
- Participate in at least 25 hours of professional development in the field of early childhood each school year
- Attend and participate in all scheduled staff planning meetings and functions
- Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the Preschool always
- Treating each child with dignity and respect
- Perform other responsibilities as directed by Preschool management
Requirements
The Lead Teacher must have a college degree, CDA, community college certificate and/or extended job experience in early childhood education. The person selected for this position must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to both children and adults and be willing to fulfill teacher responsibilities in accordance with the school's educational philosophy, curriculum guidelines, and classroom procedures. Lead Teacher should be able to lift at least 30 pounds. All employees are subject to satisfactory passing background checks as a condition of employment.

About Us
First Presbyterian Preschool is hiring for the 2025-2026 school year. Positions available include lead teacher and assistant teacher, two to five days a week. The ideal candidate must possess a passion for teaching young children in a play-based preschool setting. FPP is accredited through the Associate for Early Learning Leaders and upholds their standards while using the Creative Curriculum as guidance for lessons. Potential schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm during the school year, with the possibility for additional hours from 8:00am - 2:00pm.
