Richfield Public School Academy, a charter school in Flint, MI, is hiring a Developmental Kindergarten Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. Must have teacher certification and endorsement.

Essential Duties
Student learning starts with a safe and secure learning environment. Teachers are expected to form positive relationships with their students, students’ families, and colleagues. All teachers are responsible for implementing the Academy curriculum, including common formative and summative assessments, monitoring student progress and maintaining positive collegial and home-Academy relationships.

Ability to work alongside parents/guardians in tough situations.

Planning engaging lessons using the provided curriculum, and being prepared to deliver high quality content in a face to face or virtual environment.

Collaborating with the assigned instructional aide, to coordinate whole group, small group and individualized instruction, maximizing the available time during the instructional day.

Providing effective supervision to ensure a safe learning environment for all students, and bringing a solutions oriented approach to challenges of practice.

Participating in professional development and applying it to their classrooms.

Maintaining a reflective approach to understanding and using best practices to continuously improve instruction and increase student achievement.

Working with other staff members to ensure alignment of materials, consistency in determining mastery of grade level standards and completing necessary documents such as report cards, child study recommendations, Individualized Reading Improvement Plans and Educational Development Plans.
Qualifications
Planning & Implementation
Individuals in this position must be able to apply effective supervision methods. Teachers will be responsible for the supervision of students on a daily basis. Supervisory responsibilities include establishing respectful routines and procedures that maximize learning time by establishing a safe and orderly environment and overseeing all classroom activities, whether online or face to face.
Knowledge & Expertise
Qualified employees in this position will possess knowledge of curriculum implementation, educational technology and metrics for evaluating student mastery. The teacher must be competent in instructional implementation and be committed to maximizing learning time within the confines of the instructional day. Excellent teachers understand and expect to be exemplars of life-long learning. The teacher must be able to execute a variety of instructional techniques.
In the event of a return to virtual learning, the Developmental Kindergarten teacher must gain knowledge and expertise in virtual learning, with the ability to use online platforms to deliver instructional materials and content. In addition, the teacher must demonstrate an understanding of the importance of daily contact with students and parents to ensure their academic success with virtual learning.
Reasoning Ability
An employee in this position must be able to effectively draw conclusions based on their ability to identify problems, collect information and establish facts. RPSA teachers possess the intellectual capacity and agency to affect student achievement and positive Academy change. In addition, a teacher in this position will possess the ability to provide both logical and abstract solutions in standard and non-standard situations.
Interpersonal Qualities
A qualified employee in this position will possess outstanding oral and written communication skills. This employee must have the ability to provide effective responses to all inquiries from all parties, including students, parents, staff, Partner Solutions, the community and the Academy Board. An employee in this position must also be able and willing to work with staff and administration to problem solve.

Education & Experience
The Developmental Kindergarten teacher must possess a valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate, or permit, with the appropriate endorsement(s) for all subject area(s) being taught. ZA/ZS endorsement preferred. At least 3 years of teaching experience is preferred.

In order to successfully perform the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to meet the following physical demands:

Salary and Benefits
Beginning salary: $40,000 - $50,000. Beginning salary rate can be adjusted due to experience.
Health, dental, vision, life and disability, and 401k benefit package available to all full-time employees.
Developmental Kindergarten class size is capped at 15 and the classroom will have a full-time instructional aide.
Richfield Public School Academy is a one to one technology district utilizing the Google Suite and Chromebook devices for each student in Developmental Kindergarten
