Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required.
This full-time position for the 2025/26 school year offers an opportunity to specialize in education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across K-12 grade levels. The role is a contract placement within a K-12 school environment located in Madison, WI, serving students throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop and implement specialized curriculum and intervention strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, and support staff to ensure inclusive classroom environments
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Communicate regularly with families to support student development and address concerns
- Utilize assistive technology and resources to enhance learning outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Teaching Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing or a related specialty
- Experience teaching K-12 students within this discipline
- Strong knowledge of communication methods including American Sign Language and assistive listening devices
- Ability to adapt lesson plans for a variety of learning styles and needs
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
