Position Description:
This role supports the center’s mission by delivering training in core manufacturing skills, emphasizing hands-on competency in industrial systems maintenance and repair. Leveraging cutting-edge curriculum and industry insights provided by leading U.S. manufacturers, the Field Trainer will engage students in both introductory and intermediate-level programs.
A key component of this position involves facilitating short-term, mobile training sessions across multiple locations using Amatrol’s portable training systems as part of VOLT’s innovative “VOLT on the Go” initiative. This approach ensures accessibility and adaptability in workforce development that is aligned with industry demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Instruction
- Deliver training across a variety of electrical and mechanical skills, including AC/DC electrical systems, relay control, variable frequency drives (VFDs), process controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, smart sensors, and related technologies.
- Hands-On Training Delivery
- Utilize Amatrol portable training equipment to provide practical, hands-on learning experiences aligned with industry standards.
Curriculum Implementation
- Follow industry-selected curriculum and training content that aligns with program goals and measurable student outcomes.
Training Logistics and Setup
- Prepare, transport, and set up training materials and equipment at various VOLT partner sites, such as education centers, industry facilities, community centers, and juvenile halls.
Classroom and Environment Management
- Manage classrooms modeled after industrial work environments, maintaining professionalism regarding attendance, breaks, and workplace expectations.
Safety and Compliance
- Model and coach best practices in industrial safety throughout training sessions.
Certification and Professional Development
- Obtain and maintain required instructor credentials, including SACA and any other necessary certifications.
Equipment Maintenance and Support
- Collaborate with senior instructors and the executive director to maintain and troubleshoot portable training systems.
Program Coordination and Reporting
- Attend meetings to review student progress and program updates.
- Record and submit student attendance, grades, and performance metrics using VOLT’s digital management systems.
Professional Expectations
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance; be prepared to teach and engage with students as scheduled.
- Represent VOLT Institute and Opportunity Stanislaus professionally and positively in all interactions and community-facing activities.
General Duties
- May drive on company business.
- Comply with all Opportunity Stanislaus/VOLT Institute policies and procedures, including but not limited to workplace safety, reporting work-related injuries, infection control, and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients, and others.

- Skilled in evaluating student performance and proactively recommending adjustments to instruction when learning goals are not consistently achieved.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train and engage students using structured course content, humor, and diverse instructional strategies to support comprehension and skill development.
- Strong classroom leadership with the capacity to manage student behavior, instructional time, attendance records, and training materials effectively.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage logistics across multiple training sites.
- High level of attention to detail and strong customer service orientation in interactions with students, partners, and team members.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus and enhance the ability to serve diverse populations.
- Team-oriented, professional, courteous, and enthusiastic, with a commitment to supporting program goals and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance or related focus OR (5) years of progressive experience in Industrial Maintenance.
- 2 years of industrial maintenance and repair in an industrial setting, i.e., Industrial Electricity, Pneumatics/Hydraulics, Mechanical Drives.
- Experience as a supervisor, team leader, or Trainer in an industrial environment is strongly desired.
- Valid Class C driver’s license and ability to travel to meetings and training off-site.
Physical and Environmental Conditions and Demands:
- Indoors in a typical manufacturing environment with some exposure to moderate noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes, approximately seventy-five percent (75%) of the time.
- Frequently, computers are used at workstations for up to two hours at a time.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule and evening/weekend hours in order to accommodate training schedules.
- May occasionally move (walk or drive) from one work location to another.
