JOB DESCRIPTION
The Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher prepares students for college and career success in one or more of Californias Career Technical Education industry sectors. The CTE teacher will deliver engaging, hands-on instruction, fostering students' technical, academic, and employability skills.The teacher will collaborate with industry partners, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to ensure students gain real-world experience and meet industry standards to prepare them for competitive, high-wage, high-demand careers.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Instructional Planning, Delivery, and Assessment
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Californias Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards
(CTE-MCS) for the [Insert Industry Sector].
Incorporate project-based learning (PBL), industry simulations, and work-based learning experiences into the curriculum.
Integrate academic standards (e.g., Common Core or NGSS) with technical content to provide a comprehensive learning and assessment experience.

Prepares reports
Attendance records, student evaluations, credit, and grading system
3.
Student Engagement and Support
Inspire students to explore career pathways within the relevant Industry Sector(s)
Provide individualized support to address diverse learning and language needs and ensure student success.
Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications, technical skills assessments, and/or dual enrollment opportunities.
4.
Industry and Community Partnerships
Collaborate with local businesses, trade organizations, and community partners to provide internships, job shadowing, and
mentoring opportunities.
Contribute to and participate in developing and maintaining advisory board membership to align curriculum with industry
trends and workforce needs.
5.
Program Development and Compliance
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that meets all industry standards and district safety standards.
Assist in program evaluation and updates to ensure alignment with labor market demands.
Compliance with CTE certification accrediting boards
Manage CTE equipment, and materials effectively
6.
Professional Growth and Collaboration
Participate in and seek professional development opportunities to stay current with industry and instructional best practices.
Collaborate with academic teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student pathways.
7.
Student Leadership Development
Facilitate student involvement in Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), such as SkillsUSA, FBLA, DECA, HOSA, or FFA.
Support students in leadership activities, competitions, and community service projects.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Required
Valid California CTE Credential or California Single Subject Teaching Credential with eligibility to obtain a CTE Credential
Industry experience in the relevant industry sector(s)
Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire high school students in career exploration and technical skill development.
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred
Bachelors or Associates degree in a relevant field.
Experience with work-based learning, dual enrollment programs, or CTSO advising.
Familiarity with equity-driven teaching practices and diverse learning environments.
