A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for an elementary school serving students in grades K-3 within an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classroom. This contract assignment is set to begin as soon as possible and will continue through the end of the current school year.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a small group of seven students, providing specialized instruction tailored to their unique learning needs. You'll collaborate with school staff and families to create effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and support the social, emotional, and academic growth of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for K-3 students in an ASD classroom
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students communication, social skills, and academic progress
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Collaborate with therapists, aides, and other educational professionals to ensure comprehensive support
- Maintain detailed records of student performance and participate in meetings with parents and staff
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and development
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably in early elementary grades
- Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional techniques for ASD
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Patience, creativity, and dedication to student-centered teaching
