PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST: 9:00am - 8:00pm (Wed - Sat)
Valley Hope of Boonville has an exciting new opportunity for a Peer Support Specialist to join our dedicated and passionate team.
Valley Hope of Boonville, located just outside of Columbia off I-70, provides Missouri with residential and outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment services.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Peer Support Specialist certification from Missouri
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license
- CPR/First Aid Certification (can be obtained shortly after hire)
COMPENSATION:
- Salary ranges from $20.00 - $25.00/hr based on education and experience

JOB SUMMARY:
- Assist patients and alumni to become and stay engaged in the recovery process.
- Promotes recovery, self-advocacy, and a culture where the individual feels safe and supported.
- Support, encourage, and model recovery and resilience from substance use disorders and mental illness in ways that are specific to the needs of each individual.
- Promotes a strengths-based model and encourage the use of natural supports and enhanced community living.
- Assists in achieving goals and objectives set forth by the individual in their individualized treatment or recovery plan.
- Engage clients in collaborative and caring relationship, using interpersonal skills, knowledge about recovery, and attitude consistent with recovery orientation.
- Provide support to client through validation of experiences and feelings, exploration and pursuit of community roles, conveying hope, celebrating efforts and accomplishments, and concrete assistance towards tasks and goals.
- Assist clients with identifying their strengths and personal resources to aid in their recovery.
- Assist and support client to set goals and imagine future possibilities; propose strategies for accomplishing those goals; support client decision-making strategies and help them to function as a member of the recovery support/treatment team.
- Accompanies client to and/or attends community activities.
- Complete regular communication with referral sources/guardians regarding progress, transition planning, and pertinent clinical issues and documentation.
- Participate in staffing to assure continuity of care.
- Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; completes paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Facilitates patient rehabilitation group sessions and educational workshops on recovery topics.
- Assist with coordination of all activities related to facility-specific alumni and family support.
- Helps patients navigate community and support services including 12-step programs, SMART Recovery groups, and teaching necessary life skills to maintain recovery.
- Discusses the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance health, wellness, and recovery and help peers discover recovery practices that work for them.
- Assist in scheduling of treatment and arranging transportation. Transports patients, as needed.
- Report behavioral changes and medication concerns to the treatment team.
- Maintain healthy boundaries to ensure a high quality, professional relationship with patients.

- Residential treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout facility.
