Position: Learning and Development Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our new L&D team as a Learning and Development Specialist. This role will participate in the implementation of a learning management system to deliver high-quality learning solutions that improve our employee knowledge, strengthen capabilities and drive business performance while promoting growth and leadership development.
Working in collaboration with managers and subject matter experts, the Learning and Development Specialist will assist in the creation of program content, learning materials, job aids and assessment tools.
This is a full-time position in the Ankeny, Iowa office reporting to the Director of Human Resources.
Responsibilities of the Position
- Responsible for the successful implementation, integrations, and ongoing effectiveness of a Learning Management System (LMS) ensuring consistent administration policies and practices are used, updates and governance to LMS system and training content are applied, scheduling, tracking and reporting of training analytics is delivered, and learning objectives are met.
- Provides administrative support for users and managers such as granting access, modifying user permissions and assigning courses. Provides technical support and training for internal users of the LMS system.
- Works with managers and subject matter experts to design engaging and effective interactive e-learning content using LMS tools. Regularly meets with subject matter experts and managers to make recommendations on course content and delivery and to improve the user interface and experience.
- Ensures training modules, assignments, quizzes, assessments, on-the-job checklists and supplemental training materials align with learning objectives supporting the onboarding, skill development, and career advancement of employees across all levels of the organization.
- Partners with training providers, industry organizations, LMS services and educational institutions to leverage resources and opportunities for employee development, certification and refreshers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related degree preferred.
- 6-10 years direct responsibility in learning and development role with experience administering an LMS system as well as designing, developing and modifying e-learning content.
- Proven experience using content authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate.
- Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, Kirkpatrick Model or other e-learning content standards.
- Willing to take initiative and be able to adapt to various job duties to achieve goals and objectives.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, simultaneously work on multiple projects while meeting deadlines agreed upon.
- Critical thinking skills to effectively manage day-to-day responsibilities and projects always looking for improvement opportunities.
- Strong personal and professional judgement. Acts with integrity and models core values.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to collaborate and convey messages, instructions, and decisions in an effective, professional manner to various audiences.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Self-motivated with interest and desire to work toward career progression in L&D or HR management roles.
Physical Requirements
- This position typically works in an office environment working at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
- Close vision for reading documents and working on computer screens.
- Must be able to travel overnight 15-20% by air and car.
