JOB SUMMARY:The Education Program Coordinator is highly experienced in the field of education and is responsible for all aspects of residential program youth’s educational needs to include: acting as liaison to the public/private schools, internal departments, external partners and providers, and legal guardian/case manager. The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising the Pulte Promise Center Teacher(s), volunteer(s) and overseeing the daily operations of the Pulte Promise Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocates for all residential youth. Compiles and reviews comprehensive evaluative data required to determine the appropriate educational and/or ESE placement of assigned youths based on the youth’s academic, behavioral and developmental needs, limitations and abilities.
- Schedules, participates in, and completes documentation for all public/private school enrollments within 3 days of intake.
- Correspond with youth’s teachers and guidance counselors via email or phone to address any concerns that the schools might have, and regularly check on youth attendance and grades.
- Documents all youth educational correspondence and updates in MyEvolv and ensures youth record is up to date with items such as report cards and copies of IEP’s.
- Attends staffing’s and IEP meetings for youth.
- Communicates youth progress and needs to residential team, youth guardian, bio parent and any other potential adoptive or foster parents as applicable.
- Collaborates with CHN’s Supervisor on Duty (SOD), Care Case Manager (CCM), Records Coordinator (RC) and other CHN team members to report daily youth absences to the respective schools. Assist CCM & RC with sending appropriate documentation of medical visits to schools in order to get absences excused.
- Knowledgeable of EBD, IDEA and ESE requirements, and changes in School Board regulations which affect placement of youths.
- Works with Development team and Fiscal team to research, introduce, maintain, and report on grants received for Education Program. Maintains data for external grant reporting.
- Maintains education data for internal reporting. Creates and collects data on the education progress data outputs to monitor youth progress.
- Coordinates with the school district transportation system to coordinate each child’s bus routes.
- Develops and maintains relationships with educational facilities, community schools, and school districts to facilitate educational enrollment and transition procedures.
- Supervise learning center teacher, volunteers, tutors, and student interns.
- Works with Intake Coordinator and Clinical Director for all new youth intakes/admissions by collecting educational information prior to or upon their arrival to CHN, including ensure case management sets up transportation for youth at intake to avoid missed school days.
- Coordinate with USF, Project Promise, and other resources for additional tutors, volunteers or intern support.
- Ensures immediate reporting of injuries and/or unsafe conditions to supervisor and completes any related documentation both in MyEvolve and externally.
- Participates in the organization’s Performance and Quality improvement process.
- Schedules Learning Center Activities in collaboration with Learning Center staff and Cottage Supervisors.
- Develop and oversee budgets for Education Department.
- Refer student to educational and/or vocational programs including but not limited to; job placement, tutoring, and mentoring.
- Enroll youth in school and community events, including educational after school programs, leadership/youth development activities and school sports, clubs and organizations.
- Works within the philosophy and practices of The Children's Home network.
- Presents information about the PPC and student needs and progress to stakeholders, donors, funders, etc. through annual and quarterly PQI data collection and reports.
- Provides training to the Pulte Promise Learning Center Teacher(s) as needed and to colleagues within the residential program.
- Collaborates, as appropriate, with the birth parents of CHN youth to strengthen their knowledge and ability to support their child’s education through a co-parenting model.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Preferred 1 year experience working as advocate for student’s success in school, vocational education and extracurricular activities
- Supervisory level experience managing staff/volunteers preferred.
- Experience navigating school system resources and supports for students, including but not limited to IEP’s, 504 plans and other interventions that will have a positive impact on student academic performance preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
- First Aid and CPR Certified or ability to obtain within 30 days of new hire date
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension.
- Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance. Must be insurable under CHN’s current auto insurance policy.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.

Annual Training Requirements:
- The following training topics are required annually: Car Seat Safety, Sexual Harassment, Blood-borne Pathogens, Workplace Accident Prevention and Reporting, Confidentiality and Privacy Practices, Diversity/Cultural Competency, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Statutes and Methods, Prevention of Violence in the Workplace, OSHA–related training, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals. Maintenance of Child Welfare Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities not limited to:
- Knowledge of Department of Children and Families rules and regulations regarding the care of children.
- Knowledge of cottage budget and fiscal procedures
- Knowledge of contract requirements with CBC’s and DCF
- Knowledge of child abuse or neglect Mandated reporting procedures
- Knowledge of the impact of trauma on the children we serve, their behavior and development
- Knowledge & practice of effective supervisory and management practices, techniques and methods.
- Knowledge & practice of CHN’s organizational structure, and all Procedures and Policies
- Fiscal and budget management
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with youth served and their families, co-workers, supervisors, child welfare partners and other individuals
- Effective, timely and efficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Managing overtime of staff
- Demonstrates proficiency in PBIS practices and supports the ongoing implementation throughout the organization
Essential Physical Skills:
- Ability to perform physical restraint techniques as required utilizing the CPI method.
- An ability to participate in physical activities with children (weighing 107 pounds on average) that may require bending, stooping, and moderate lifting.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting.
- Ability to run, walk, skip, hop or jump.
